lake My female canary has no feathers. Why?

I got it about 6 months ago from a friend. She said it never had feathers when she got it form someone else. The poor thing was so sad when i got it but since it has come out of its shell. It seems chipper and eats good as well. I feed it lots of vegetables and fruits besides feeding it seeds. I tried feeding it egg a few times because i heard its good for feather growth but it's not necessarily fond of them. Does anybody know what the problem could be??there
